Joe breaks the Leatherman Arc wire cutters despite their supposed hard wire cutting capability advertised on the box. Can’t even cut a coat hanger wire!

Leatherman did not publicly admit that they had received a bad batch of cutters from heat treatment and this was the result. People have been doing this and getting the replacement cutters and it eliminates the little hole issue with the hard cutters. A guy in YT did this review with the new ones he got sent and they are normal and not defective

I can't believe Leatherman didn't test this. 2 other YouTubers verified your findings by breaking their arc cutters as well. I just got my arc and this makes me not feel good about it.

A few people said P4 cutters fixes this issue, but Leatherman should send you some free.

Send it back to LT with the video. Keep us update of their answer. The Arc is skyrocketing the price of 300 € here in France.

I use mine to clip sections off 1/16” stainless rod. 304 I believe.

The only “damage” is burnishing.

The most important part of that multitool fails ! You’d think after decades of being in the business, Leatherman would put out a better product.

I don’t have any issues with my arc mine cuts through hanger wire and much stronger wire no problem I just don’t put the wire all the way to the back of the jaws I put it right to the edge of the soft cutters

The Charge TTi comes with the same gap. All I do is line the wire up correctly with the cutting surface, rather than jam it all the way in the back with the gap meant to be a poor attempt at a wire stripper, and it cuts fine. Is it the most convenient, efficient, or practical design element of the multi tool? No, but I would not necessarily call it a ”flaw” if you are breaking the tool by using it incorrectly, as marketed. It is like saying the blade came dull out of the box while attempting to cut down a limb requiring the saw. Regardless, there is an easy fix to the issue. Order the larger replacement wire cutter kit to replace the original ones attached to the Arc to remove the gap. Not saying they made the best decision with the addition of the “wire stripper”. Love it, or hate it, I only mean to bring attention to the fact the Arc itself is not a defective product at launch. Any tool will break if used incorrectly.

I'm glad i dont have any issues with my wave + like this. The cutters on the wave have been a godsend. I haven't used my snips once since i got the wave. Use the scissors to clean anything up or the file and she's good to go.

I've only ever used that part to strip coatings off of copper wire and have done that on the job for years. because of this I would consider this heavy cutting and assume it to be abuse, the funny thing is leatherman advertises this as a "hard wire cutter" not a wire stripper which suggests the video is not abuse after all. Very odd for it to deform like this.

Thats what's heavy duties apparatus is for thats for light duty that may have the power to do it as well

Don't stick the wire in the gap, seat it in the notch designed for hard wire cutting.

This problem is also on newer Surge. I bought the Black with molle sheath and it got the same cutters. Luckly the Surge can cut very well behind the pliers head. Also luckly i have a Knipex CoBolt S, a small beast.

Replaceable cutters are just a cash-grab for leather man. Not only do they not have to honor their warranty for broken cutters, but YOU will have to go BUY new cutters out of pocket now! I’m sticking to the curl, as long as it has its normal integrated cutters.

My ARC also arrived with a nice big chip in the Magnacut blade...I'm super disappointed so far. There are too many mistakes, and design issues with this release. Enough that just the fact that it's got a small Magnacut blade, doesn't make up for all the issues.

The problem is that Leatherman wants you to send the tool! They won’t send you the new set of cutters to do it yourself!
