I AM HOLDING DESTIN'S SLOW MO CAMERA HOSTAGE FOR ANOTHER WEEK (until the event he actually sent it to me for) what else should I film in Slow Mo???

it feels like 90% of this video's reason for existing was Xyla wanting to own a rug with a raccoon riding on a lil rocket. Also i appreciate the the tufting gun matches the overalls

The fact that the mechanism slides the tiny scissors nestled within the needle housing and through the fabric without harming it is impressive.

For those who haven`t watch her livestream.
She is a BEAST and did a 6+ hour livestream that ended with her not having the correct colors and us viewers telling her to go to bed...

I never thought that I'd watch a video on tufting, but here we are, and you made it really interesting and informative.

First off, that rug looks amazing.
second, that gun is really cool, and so is that slo-mo camera.
Third, the slo-mo of you is both hilarious and adorable.

Very cool video and project, thank you for sharing!

I blew milk out my nose when Xyla said " I'm gonna' shave it and show you what it looks like."

You mean you're just going to have a cameo of Grady from Practical Engineering and think no one is going to notice?! Destin, Grady, and Xyla- I can't wait to see what you three are cooking up!
Nice job with the rug!

I was on that stream for most of it -- Its odd but the stream really made me feel kind of invested in seeing the finished product so I have been waiting all day for this vid. Its so good to see it complete; It turned out great -- well done :)

Now you have to make Dustin a Trash Pandas rug as a thank you gift.

I have NEVER seen this process before! And the mechanism of that tufting gun makes my Mechanical Engineer's brain twitch! To realize just how fast all the parts move and are synchronized is really impressive! I would like to see you do a slow-mo vid of a sewing machine at 1500fps! I still have my late Mother's antique Singer sewing machine, but as I'm a guy she never taught me how to use it. I DID have to fix it one time for her when the thingy that threads the bobbin froze up from never being oiled! Turns out the original, unopened, tube of grease was still in the case! There was a sewing machine repair place nearby at the time, so I took it there to ask them just how to properly "freshen it up" and buy a bottle of oil and they tried to get me to sell it to them! I mean REALLY tried! It is in museum quality condition. Black with gold pinstriping! What that thing is worth today is STAGGERING!

I never knew such a thing as a tufting gun existed until today o'clock, and I've never thought about making a rug before, but it looks like fun! Thanks for this great video, Xyla!

You have great energy, Xyla. I've watched a lot of your sci-geek, camp-geek, shop-geek, and now quilt-geek videos. You do bring great energy to your videos and they're fun to watch!

CBC had a cartoon back in late 80s early 90s, 'The Racoons'.

Love the Rug!

it's the little slow-mo "sproing" of the thread as it's snipped under tension that is soooo satisfying!

WOW! Your turnaround on this project is impressive, I'm still struggling with finding the sources for my argumentative essay lol

GREAT first rug! The slo-mo of the snippy yarn was soooo satisfying! For your frame, you may want to weigh down the legs--it looks like it wiggled away from you a bit. Also, if you find the yarn is slipping out (didn't seem like an issue for you) you can try threading two strands at the same time so they kinda grip each other. That makes for a thicker line of course--less good for details, better for filling in large swaths of color.
