I lost my dad last year in September. Coincidentally, I found out early last year that when I was born, he would place me on a pillow, put this record on and walk around the house rocking me and smiling. He said he never knew he could love anyone that much until I was born. This was a tradition he did for all of my siblings, as well as, any other babies he would come in contact with throughout the rest of his life.

I was born in 66 and was fortunate to enjoy so many great bands. Cameo, Earth Wind & Fire, Lakeside, Con funk shun, Dazz Band, Commodores, Heatwave, Isley Brothers, and the list goes on and on...😊

A little history on this song “Sparkle”. The young man singing it on the album Secret Omen and who, by the way, wrote it when he was 18 years old is Anthony A. Lockett. I know because I am his little sister. He is from a small town in Georgia called Winston. He was previously with our local hometown group named the Chaparrals. They performed at a concert in Atlanta which also included Cameo. After that, Cameo sought him out and the rest, as they say, is history. He is an expert guitarist who was taught by our Daddy, James H. Lockett (deceased) beginning at the age of three.
On stage he doesn’t have to jockey for position to garner attention. His God given talent, professionalism, and his artistry speaks volumes and bears witness of his gifts. I could go on and on, but I don’t want to be a braggart. I just wanted to dispel the rumors that say he is not the original singer of “Sparkle”. Also, when you get a chance, check out his website and you will hear gospel, jazz, rock, and country. He is an amazing man who loves our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, and the Great I Am.

I lost my dad 7 years ago and he always played Cameo when he was coming from the bar or at a cookout. Back then I didn't appreciate this music but now it hits different. I love it now because of him. Hanging Downtown is my favorite song from Cameo. I love sparkle and why have I lost you. I listen for you Bumpy. We miss you so much. RIP Darryl Gilliam Sr.

The doctors told me I couldn't have kids after losing my first 3. After much prayer, I had my first daughter in 2001 (4 more daughter's after her).

Thinking that my first daughter would be my only one, we had a "dedication" at the church for her.

My husband & I went to the studio and he did the instruments and I did the vocals (with my sister).

I sang this song to my daughter as I danced with her in the church after the dedication. She was 7 months old and I held her and looked in her eyes and sang to my blessing. I changed a couple of words to fit it for our occasion.

The doctors said no. But God said "what did I say? "

By the way we did an excellent job covering this song 🤭🤗 Will Always be one of my favorites.
