That's 1.36 kilometers por second. It's absurd. I'm sure we can have jets that sustain such speeds, engines to push it, and fuselage material and design to deal with the high temperatures due to air friction. In the early 70' we already had on some spy planes above Mach 3 (SR 71). The biggest problem would be for how long. Since a engine put in afterburner burns fuel like crazy. And tanks on modern attack Jets are quite small.

Even with today’s tech. Beyond Mach 2.5 you get extreme temperatures that shorten the life of the airframe like crazy. Hence the bleeding SR-71 after landing.

Think a Bugatti. Those tires are good for ONE run at max q for that vehicle. And the fuel consumption rate is ungodly.

Physics is a bitch. And quite frankly we’ve reached the endgame for fighter tech without a breakthrough in powerplants. Stealth is becoming irrelevant unless it’s active camouflage, which is still science fiction.

They have to put radar reflecting tags on F-22 and F-35s because they (enemies) are sorting how use acoustics and such to determine if and what kind of stealth vehicle is on the way.

Looking at the angle of sonic boom cone, it looks like they actually were much faster than Mach 4, maybe Mach 6 which is actually insanely fast. Mach 5 is the boundary for hypersonic speed like Mach 1 is for supersonic.
