Steven Universe Future: Fragments Alternate Ending

Animation I did built on top of the original TV animation for SUF Fragments. I wanted to test how closely I could mimic TV styled animation and use this short little project as a way to improve my own animation methods for upcoming projects (Gaiden.)

It has its problems, but I've learned alot from this short test alone so going forward my stuff can be of even better quality. I also just wanted to animate something I think we were all thinking was going to happen at the end of this episode.

If this actually happened in the show, let’s be honest, we wouldn’t need Homeworld Bound, or not even Everything’s Fine. He would just “corrupt” right then and there.

Meanwhile at homeworld:

Yellow Diamond: *fixing shattered gems*

I sent this to my friend and she really said, “Fake!”

Well obviously it’s a fan animation

he should’ve said “i’m a monster” and he would’ve been corrupted much sooner

I think this probably would have been more emotional and actually damaged Steven more than what happened in the show. Steven probably hated the idea of killing... and now that he had killed someone without being able to bring them back... he would have been wreck completely... more wrecked than before.

Imagine if it was like the ending of Wall-E where shes comes back but is no longer herself. The old Jasper being just a memory and the current one just a simple dime a dozen soldier.

Scary: Shattering Jasper, but repairing her
Terrifying: Shattering Jasper and not being able to save her
HORRIFYING: Shattering Jasper, repairing her gem... and nothing. It's an inert rock now.

This would have hit so much harder. I'm almost disappointed she did come back.

If this happened he prob would’ve stayed a corrupted, how are you gonna move on in life knowing you literally killed someone by accident

Let’s be honest it probably would have been a lot more interesting if this is what happened, the problem was solved way too quickly, even if Jasper wasn’t permanently shattered and she was out back together a different way which took more time that would have been so much better than what we got

I always imagined that gems die by getting shattered, so this ending does make sense.

I actually was gonna cry when Steven shattered Jasper.
If this was the actual ending instead I would have actually started crying so hard.

honestly, imo this is what should've happened. they completely took away the threat of shattering by doing that.

If it didn't work, I can honestly see Steven never forgiving himself, and having nightmares of this. I can imagine him actually being a monster for a LOT longer then it was in the original.
