In this Sure Cuts a Lot (SCAL) tutorial, I will teach you how to prepare a distressed font for use in Cricut Design Space. After preparing your text, just click File, Export and choose SVG format. When the confirmation box is displayed, make sure you click Design Space Compatible. After this, upload the SVG file to Design Space.

One shortcut I see possible is that after breaking your shapes, just drag a marquee around "ESSES" and do Path -> Union. That works as long as there aren't internal shapes, such as there are in the D and R. Less fidgety-clicking :)

You could, break apart, go into layers, turn off all the letter outlines
Then just box select all the insides you don't want, and delete them.
Then just turn your letters back on.

To only select the out line of each letter why can't you use contour on design space?
