Hawai’i 4th of July Fireworks on the beach

Ever surfed at night with July 4th fireworks going off all around you?

It’s pretty exhilarating…

All the more so because we’ve had a summer sweep this week.

So yeah, had our AJI barbecue and Kanikapila jam session last night, went sailing at dawn, trained Jujitsu, Jiujitsu, Kajukenbo, & JKD mid day, went to a prayer service with family, enjoyed some adventurous night surfing to the fireworks, and then sang our National Anthem to some absolute strangers before diving into some of their fresh apple pie…

That’s how we roll.

A Blessed 4th of July

Mahalo Nui Loa to those who endeavored to create a new way of life over 145 years ago... an idealistic vision still slowly being built and continually evolving...

One which entails nations within nations of our indigenous ancestors who were here long before 1776.

Freedom isn't free...it can be expensive beyond our understanding and ever elusive.

The cost has been staggering, and yet the faith, hope, and love that give us the courage to strive for and offer a better way of life for others is limitless.

When we consider what this day honors, and what it took to achieve, the 4th of July is a day worthy of deep meditation, reflection, and prayer.

In many ways our Independence is a testament to our inter-dependence... That inter-dependence offered with Aloha is more beautiful to me then the most amazing fireworks show on earth.
