The SMITE World Championship will be taking in place in person this year! However, there's some scheduling trouble that especially the pro players aren't happy about.

Yeah they probably couldn't book it, but it also works out as a convenient way for them to punish the pros already for speaking out at the same time before they announce their salary cut like Incon predicts to happen after worlds.

Hey that's my tweet. For reference guys I was referring to like very end of January giving pros a full 3 weeks to a month of practice. Kinda like how they usually have a month or so off after last pro play.

So, Twitter is useful for once?

Still digging the Smite content, keep it up!

Even in NA, travel can be tiring.
Taking a bus can really wear you out, I have done a bus ride for two thirds the East Coast.
Plane trips even within the US come with their own hassles especially if you are not from a major city.
Driving can also wear you out and take more than one day, I have driven half the country in one trip a few times.

Honestly they probably canceled the in person venue BECAUSE of all of this, but it was either piss off the fans of worlds, or piss of the players of worlds, and at the end of the day one group is larger and is paying for the event, so unfortunately the players font get to see their families for the holidays. Honestly kinda dumb how so many people fought for this, and the players have to suffer because of the vocal minority. And the worst part is probably 90% of the people who screeched and yelled about wanting worlds live, arent actually going to attend it anyway. I wish hi rez had put their foot down and stood up for its players, and explaining this to people instead of bowing to the mob.

When booking a venue, its often not about what you WANT, but whats available. For example, my best friend got married last year, and unfortunately the date of their marriage was september 11th. Not exactly a prime date for a marriage, or any event really. But that was the only date they could get the venue, because otherwise they would have to wait until NEXT YEAR! Yeah, a year and a half it was booked up. And with hi rez, they almost certainly knew this is the venue they are choosing, because its the one they use the most, but its fully booked up until early january, and the tiny handful of options are either too expensive or they cant get the stage they need, and they decided to treat their players right, and give them time for the holidays.

The mob doesnt understand the logistics, they dont care that they most likely wont attend the event themselves, they just want to bandwagon something and complain to feel powerful. Now hi rez looks bad no matter what choice they make, and one way or another, one of the two groups walks away angry. I just feel bad for the players in all this, not the twitter crybabies

LoL worlds is happening in ATL this year and that happens in December. Due to smite not making nearly what lol makes, it makes sense.

so like...early January is when worlds happens, or when it did before the 2 Dreamhack events that were the exception rather than the rule.

people campaign to get worlds with fans. we get it at the normal time we'd traditionally expect it. (Duke, we met at the Cobb Center in early January in 2018, so I know you know Worlds in early January is normal.) People complain to get worlds with fans, they get it, and everyone is now complaining about something else? i'd love it if Smite twitter could just be actually positive and supportive of something for once.

i swear, i think Hi-Rez could just give everyone 5K gems for free and the Smite twitter would start a viral campaign complaining about why didn't Hi-Rez give us 10K free gems instead. how do you even with a community that hates its own game so much that it even complains when it gets exactly what it asked for?

well at least it is happening in person instead of not at all, because apperently covid is starting to uptick again with a new strain which can prove problematic

With the constant crying from the pro players I would not see Hi-Rez at fault but a bunch of cry baby that cry when they don't have it or when it's happening they cry because it's not on their terms. Grow up pro players and learn a lesson in life that things are not always the way you want and/or how you want. Welcome to the real world!
