Karnataka News | Karnataka Halts Transactions With SBI, PNB Amid Funds Misuse Allegations

Facing allegations of misuse of funds from government accounts, the Karnataka government has issued an order suspending all transactions with the State Bank of India (SBI) and Punjab National Bank (PNB). Both of these banks are owned by the Central government.

Finance minister should be made accountable for malpractices and frauds in public sector banks, depositors cannot afford to go to court to get justice after several decades. Banks must honour the commitment and also intiate action against fraudulent staff.

Private banks are legally prohibited from opening government accounts. Even if this were allowed, the RBI closely monitors every transaction. In Karnataka’s case, they might even appoint a task force to scrutinize all transactions. Central funding is exclusively routed through SBI. These actions are creating a mess for themselves and could lead to delays in wages and payments, causing unnecessary hardship. Ultimately, there’s no escape—fraud will be exposed.
