Regarding character deaths, I think people don't talk enough about the symbolic representation of society through the way they died. Example - Ali, the purest person in the game, dies by getting betrayed, an accurate message that the nicest people in life always end up getting stabbed in the back.

Ali did not steal money from his boss. His boss stole his and he took it back

I think the reason why the old man acted the way he did towards Gi-hun was because Gi-Hun showed the old man kindness, respect and his caring nature so it kinda restored the old man’s faith in humanity- to an extent. It’s a game where you want the other opponents eliminated and Gi-Hun being so nice to the old man and trying to help him succeed in the game was not what any of the other characters were doing. During the marble game, the old man could see how much Gi-Hun didn’t want to lose and die, but didn’t want to cheat, but also didn’t want the old man to die, not knowing it didn’t matter, he was going to live regardless as the games creator.

For me, the most amazing thing is that the games were found on the walls the WHOLE time...

Cool little thing I noticed. Every player was involved in a game where lives were at stake. Everyone, except 001 because he knew the rules and got special treatment. But on his deathbed he played one last time with Gi-Hun over whether someone would help a homeless man and when he lost - he died.

Oh Il-nam was trying to avoid everyone in the marble game because he knew if he didn't have a partner he would be safe

The old man didn't press the button to prove humanity but he didn't want to force anyone to play so he, in his mindset, didn't kill anyone without their permission

He didn’t choose ‘no’ during the vote to test faith in humanity. He did it because he wanted it to be their _choice_ to come back to play. Then there’s less guilt, and he can feel like he didn’t force them to play with him, that was what they decided to do - even knowing the risks.

Something I noticed about In-ho: In episode 2, when Jun-ho and his mother were talking, they were talking about finding In-ho. Jun-ho said if he doesn't find him in a few days, he will report him missing. This implies that he hasn't been missing for long, and is a relatively new Front Man.

At the beginning of the squid game when the main character bet money for horse racing, horse number 8 and 6 were fighting for a first place and it seemed like horse 8 will win but horse 6 reversed the situation and won the race. These horses symbolize both gi hoon and song woo who had number 45(6)and 21(8). And on the last round of their fight sang woo who had last number 8 was winning the game but gi hoon with last number 6 eventually won like horse racing

Damn! Sae-Byeok got an amazing role for her debut and she played it perfectly.

Regarding your first point (foreshadowing fates)

Gi-hun's mother's death was foreshadowed when Sae-byeok and him were dropped off. Gi-hun swore on his mother's grave that he wouldn't try anything if Sae-byeok freed his hands; immediately after doing so Gi-hun lunges at her.

I doubt Il Nam was scared, it seems more like he was letting them know it was time to end it, but had to act like a frail old man.

Squid Games is one of the best shows I have seen in a LONG time. It's brilliant masterpiece. I originally didn't want to watch it because of the hype but it got to me and by episode 2 or 3 I was hooked.

For the marbles game, there was an odd number and high possibility that they would not choose the old man because he appeared weak. Even if he was not chosen, he would be safe, same with the loud woman.

I have another theory. I think that the ranking of the guards is determined by the amount of sides the shape has. I also think that the highest rank is star, being the Old Man because he is the maker of the game. He also hints this by choosing the star in the honeycomb challenge.

The three ranks of guards are Worker (or Worker Ant), Warrior (or Warrior Ant) and Manager (Handler). In Korean that is일벌 (일개미), 전사 (전사 개미), 매니저. Romanized that is ilbeol (ilgaemi), jeonsa (jeonsa gaemi), and manija. They start with the letters ㅇㅈㅁ (ieung, jieut and mieum - I J M). These are represented as a circle ㅇ, a triangle ㅿ and a square ㅁ in the title of the Korean poster.

The main theory is that Il-Nam is supposed to be Gi-Hun's father. Il-Nam is alive but is dying while Gi-Hun was dead while living. So, Il-Nam before he died wanted to save his son while simultaneously seeing if he was worthy to take over the games.
