I read an article that came out not long after Katrina. It said that the number one thing people wish they had after surviving a disaster (most disasters, not just Katrina) was cash. I always have at least a month's worth of cash on hand. If it's lost in a house fire, it won't break me. If it's the only thing I have left after another form of disaster then it could save me.

Thank you for keeping us informed and giving tips in a calm way. I'm a strong woman, but the amount and severity of current events is frightening.

I love your channel. The others on YouTube come off as extremely alarmist so I rarely watch them. I'm here for the good, reasonable and realistic advice. Thank you for what you do!

This is a really good video. I've been doing all of these things in order to become debt free and more organized. But it helps to get encouragement and to reinforce these ideas. I paid off a $50, 000 debt from a bad business deal. It took me 3 years, but I did it. A lot of people asked me why I didn't file for bankruptcy. If I had filed for bankruptcy I would not have the good credit that I have today. We got an exceptionally low interest rate on our house because of our good credit. It truly does make a difference. When I paid off my car, people asked me if I was going to trade it in for a new one and I said no. I like not having car payments! Thanks for your timely video!

We just went in on a side of beef with my husband's co-worker, and I've been working hard on our garden. Last year we planted fruit trees and berries, and built over 25 raised beds. We have all sorts of greens, tomatoes, potatoes, beets, broccoli, shallots, peppers, squash, radishes, herbs, etc. This year I'm starting to focus more on a medicinal herb garden and learning how to make our own medicines. And, of course, we have plenty of chickens for eggs! It may not be enough to sustain us if everything crashes, but it's a good start.

If you got money left rover after paying bills consider paying utilities and phone in advance so you will have a credit balance if you can't get money out if the bank

I used Dave Ramsey’s method and it’s amazing how quickly you can climb out of debt that way.

I've been trading things with a friend and didn't realize it. Ibaked him a loaf of bread. Then he gave me some jalapeño plants. I gave him some composition notebooks and he is going to water my garden when I go on vacation. No money involved and we're both happy.

I just recently paid off my student debt and wow it feels great! Credit card debt was first and I'm so blessed. This really works. It took awhile but it's so worth it.

Thanks Chris. I've never had a lot of money. But I've always been able to prep and plan. I'm beginning to understand a lot of people can't, even though they make 10× what I do.

Great advice. I buy cows and goats with my parents and it really saves because you have more parts and I freeze them and use them when I want.

Slowly but steadily getting ready. In a decent place with preps, still have more to work on

Great tips. Building a community to assist and barter is very important towards obtaining necessary supplies and services, but also for the purpose of security. God bless you and your family.

Dave Ramsey's plan works when you dedicate yourself to eliminating your debt. I'm almost debt free due to his plan and feel so free.

Thanks for another awesome video Kris! The attention to the silver lining here is detrimental for us all!! This is a perfect opportunity for people to build their skills and communities. Ask your neighbors about community gardens, group hunting and fishing trips, and share all the knowledge you have with one another!! Stay focused on the goal and we'll be stronger in the end!!
