I have always seen it this way> social security is taxed twice> It's taxed when you make it and again when you receive it.

As an lnvesting enthusiast, I often wonder how top level investors are able to become millionaires off investing. . I’ve been sitting on over $545K equity from a home sale and I’m not sure where to go from here, is it a good time to buy into stocks or do I wait for another opportunity?

The people need to stop taxing at 62, the elderly has supported the united states for 30 hard years of labor and dedication, now that they are ole and have additional expenses because they're broke down, crippled or weak to sustain home, yard, physically and medically it's insane to keep taking monies back at all

Why are they taxed at all, this money was taxed prior when we paid into the program.

The wisest thing that should be on every wise individual list is to invest in different stream of income that don't depend on the government to bring money especially now

This is a horrible problem. We should not pay tax on Social security as it takes away or food budget. Greedy Government!

This explains why Dave R recommends Roths; total income thresholds at retirement. I wasn't clever enough to figure that one out. Thank you!

Great video! In summary for myself this general rule applied since I have one rental property (via a divorce) Social Security only counts income from employment towards the retirement earnings test. Other kinds of income — including income from rental properties, lawsuit payments, inheritances, pensions, investment dividends, IRA distributions and interest — will not cause benefits to be reduced.

Thanks for the great info. For a single person, when you reach $25, 000 is all of the benefit taxed or just the amount over $25, 000. Thanks, Steve

The other consideration is that the tax table at 5:14 was created a long time ago and is not keeping pace with inflation so there is another "stealth tax" .

Thank you for this video. I am planning waiting until I'm 67 to start collecting my SS. I'm 64 now. I'm hoping Congress doesn't change it to 70 before I get there. I have subscribed so I can keep up with the ever changing rules of capitalism.

Social Security shouldn't be taxed at all. Make the billionaires and giant corporations pay taxes, instead of the free ride they have been getting.

Why most of people always worry about money for retirement! Old people do not need a lot of money if he or she still is good health. Majority old people, their body are out of shape, so it is not necessary to chase fashion just like young people, which can save money. Retirement provides valuable time to cook nutritional meals at home, which also can save money. But to buy as much organic foods as you can. If you have some money saved, you can plan international trips with little money, do not follow travel agent. You also can do some hobbies you dreamed for. Life is to explore your soul, which is one of my philosophy to the life.

You can also shelter income from taxes if you invest in tax-free municipal bonds or muni bond funds where the dividends are federal and state tax exempt. The dividends, while not taxable, do count towards your AGI for determining your Medicare premiums.

This is my first year with SS income. I was shocked to learn I had to pay tax's on 85% of it!!! It is a shame to tax SS! I thought that only "Earned Income" counted but Nope All income did plus 1/2 of your SS!! So my pensions which I paid for counted against me. We on SS are living on the edge of poor! We dont need our retirements taxed!

I know how it works: you work for 40 years while being taxed up the keister. and when it's time to retire you get nothing (
