Released in August 1967, Itchycoo Park reached number 3 in the UK charts, number 16 in America and number 1 in Canada, remains one of the Small Faces’ biggest hits and has become a classic of its time. This fun lyric video captures the psychedelic spirit of the Sixties and is a chance for fans the world over to enjoy this wonderful recording once again.

The song was first conceived and largely written by Ronnie Lane, who had been reading a leaflet on the virtues of Oxford which mentioned its dreaming spires. A number of sources claim the song's name is derived from the nickname of Little Ilford Park, on Church Road in the London suburb of Manor Park, where Small Faces' singer and songwriter Steve Marriott grew up. The "itchycoo" nickname is, in turn, attributed to the stinging nettles which grew there. Other sources cite nearby Wanstead Flats (Manor Park end) as the inspiration for the song.

Over Bridge of Sighs
To rest my eyes in shades of green
Under dreaming spires
To Itchycoo Park, that's where I've been

(What did you do there?) I got high
(What did you feel there?) Well, I cried
(But why the tears there?) Tell you why
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful

I feel inclined to blow my mind
Get hung up, feed the ducks with a bun
They all come out to groove about
Be nice and have fun in the sun

I'll tell you what I'll do (What will you do?)
I'd like to go there now with you
You can miss out school (Won't that be cool?)
Why go to learn the words of fools?

(What will we do there?) We'll get high
(What will we touch there?) We'll touch the sky
(But why the tears there?) I'll tell you why
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful

I feel inclined to blow my mind
Get hung up, feed the ducks with a bun
They all come out to groove about
Be nice and have fun in the sun

It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
Ha

It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful

Brilliant. A true 60s classic. Itchycoo Park simply sums up 1967. No.3 in the UK in September 1967.

This was one of the favorite songs of a friend of mine who died last year. Just heard it on Florida Magic Oldies today and it made me think of him. Love the song even if it tears me up these days. It's all too beautiful <3

Glad YouTube has the lyrics to this great song because now I know I was singing quite few of misinterpreted verses...

Sencillamente maravilloso tema, por su tiempo y su mensaje en ese momento, y por la banda. En México la radio la trasmitía en los 70's como cualquier canción -sin censura-, gracias al idioma. (escribe Jorge Villa).

This song takes me back to my high school days, but that’s not all, ¡ I’m dating my sweet heart of those days !!!
I have the music but not the lyrics and that’s why I’m here.

This site can give some credit to Steve Marriott, it's ok to do that. At least acknowledge his amazing vocals. Like no one else really.

I was a baby when this came out, I just found out The Bridge of Sighs was a bridge prisoners passed under while on their way to prison. They knew their life was ruined.
