Speed Up Games With a 2nd Memory Stick! (Single vs Dual Channel)

You can significantly boost gaming performance in your laptop by using two sticks of memory instead of one. I’ve tested the Ryzen 7 5800H CPU with 1x 32gb and 2x 16gb sticks of memory to see what the differences are in games.

I appreciate your methodology and testing protocols. Honestly, it takes a lot of work to get these results. Thank you,

Great suggestion Jarod. I am on a Legion 5 4600H - 1650 ti and on single channel (8GB) dota 2 was averaging 120-130 FPS. Added 8 GB for multitasking reasons and BAM! Dota 2 started to average 140-160 FPS.

Appreciate this video, Jarrod. No introductions and distractions, you get straight to the point with such simplicity. The layout of the video is excellent; telling us the answer at the beginning, showing us the physical layout of both configurations, giving us test results, costs, and a nice summary.

Looking forward to the async dual channel benchmarks. This is a big reason why I've been holding back on buying laptops like Zephyrus G15 with soldered 8GB RAM because I also want to run dual rank memory

Thank you for this. Having a Helios 300 with 1 16gb, I needed this video

I’ll be looking forward the video where you mix different capacities!!

My laptop had a short circuit and one slot died. In CS:GO my fps went from 250 to around 120.
However it still plays good GPU heavy games like Nier, Witcher, etc

My sons TUF A15 had a single stick and it chugged. I added another stick and now it's very good. I recommend it.

Jarrod can't help it, he just has to give spoilers at the beginning of the video. 😄

Should you decide to go ahead with testing two different memory capacities, you’ll find it easier to do so with with a 4 and 8gb config.

Do a video on asynchronous dual channel vs synchronous dual channel as many budget laptops have only one stick to upgrade and some memory directly soldered to the motherboard.

Jarrod, I think you should make another video with more in depth testing such as 2x8GB Ram vs 2x16GB Ram.

God laptops look so fucking alien to me.

I recommend EVERY ONE to make use of this feature.
To give you an example on some games I have gotten an FPS increase of about 10%/ 15% which is HUGE considering the fact that I had to invest just $25 for an additional stick of RAM.
