Cheilitis is a lip ezema or a dryness of the lips. Dryness of the lips are due to many causes. Some of them are due to use of hash lipsticks or very drying sin washes or face washes. Some of them may be due to licking of the lips, which could be drying out the lips. Excessive exposure to the lips can cause something called as the Actinic Exfoliative Cheilitis. Use of certain tablets like to treat acne like isotretinoin can also cause chelitis. Let us not forget even vitamin deficiency like Vitamin D deficiency can also cause cheilitis. Cheilitis could be a part of perioral dermatitis, which is a part of eczema around the mouth or it can be eczema. So atopic dermatitis can present as lip cheilitis. So here are varied effects of cheilitis, which is very important to meet the dermatologist to see what is the primary cause of lip cheilitis. Whatever the cause is, go and meet your dermatologists. So use bland lip balm it should not have any perfume in it. Avoid licking the lips. The saliva of the lips can make the lip dryness worse and make the lip dryness worse use a very gentle soap free face wash and a moisturizer to hydrate the skin around the lip area. You may need additional topical steroid creams , you may need topical tacrolimus, you may need vitamin supplements and topical sunscreens. All these can be given by a prescription by a dermatologists, don’t neglect it. It can become very unsightly and can lead to hyperpigmentation of the lips and this is going to difficult to treat in the long run. So if you have cheilitis please speak to your dermatologist

I’ve been aplying aloe vera gel like 12 times a day for 5 days and mine is almost gone, along with some slight sunlight. It wasn’t a severe case, but it’s almost gone. I had it for like a year and it was smaller and didn’t cause any issues. 2 months ago it started covering my entire upper lip. Now uou can barely tell. I use Asybo 99% aloe vera gel soothing essence and Burt’s Bees lip balms that i apply several tines a day, after like 3 rounds of aloe vera. It’s like magic

What I have experienced in my case, prevention is much effective then cure
1) apply thick layer of Vaseline before brushing your teeth
2) for moisturization, use Vaseline- abound scented or tinted, raw she's butter, ghee, coconut oil, avoid lipsticks, tinted balm, any cream or moisturizer which have chemicals, strong essential oils

Thank you for this video. I think this might be what I have. My lips all of a sudden have become extremely dehydrated, to the point where if I do not constantly keep Aquaphor or A&D on them they are tight and turned white from dehydration. Water and petrolatum helped a lot for me! Simple, bland, and safe! Just wet your lips and apply petrolatum immediately. I use vaseline😁

I'm suffering from exfoliative chelitis since 8 years (I'm 24), and now I've developed pigmentation n darkening of my lips, I had concerned to many dermatologist n even homeopathy but nothing help me to recover from this drastic condition, I lost my confidence to talk with people around me, taking selfies, since how much we could even hide this chaped, uneven, awful lips with the help of makeup😢

I've tried at least 5 different things my dermatologist suggested. None got rid of it. I'm going to do what this woman did in a video and just do nothing but change my diet and see if that helps. I have this issue of my lips peeling like anything and one solution that is working like wonders is I stopped rubbing my lips against each other and then noticed my lips are doing far better. Along with this I'm drinking a lot of water and applying a good amount of good lip balm at night. Also not picking lips too much.

Chieltis runes my life to the point I'm constantly suicidal now. All started from having to wear a facemask around 4 years ago for 12 hrs a day in work. I now have severe damage of the tissue and corner of mouth. Constant saliva build up at corner, lips still in discomfort every single day.
