Susan, since you have a heated bird bath, place a rock in the bird bath, partially above the water, creating a place for birds to easily land, bathe, and drink. Works great here in Maine. Happy holidays!

Love the tree! I have a suet feeder but you have inspired me to buy a thistle feeder. Last year I had lavender growing in railing planters on my deck and all winter long I could watch birds eating the lavender seed from the warm comfort of my family room. I need to do that again because that was so fun. We have hummingbirds all year long in the Seattle area and I invested in a heated warmer for the feeder so I can turn that on when the weather is going to get below freezing. Love my hummers.

Bill did a terrific job on your haircut ... you should have Bill model his new haircut for us too! I enjoyed watching you do outdoor chores, and I didn't even lift a finger to help. We had a few snow events and hard freezes before Halloween, which didn't amount to much, the most we had was around 4 inches of snow at one time. We really could use the moisture and are experiencing an extreme drought in this part of Nebraska. One of my neighbors has a large heated dog bowl that he fills with water for the birds. It doesn't look so great, but I don't think the birds care. I enjoyed watching you decorate your homegrown (that sounds absolutely wonderful) Christmas tree.
