Can you use an extension with a Torque Wrench?
Can you use a Universal Joint or Wobble socket with a Torque Wrench?
I'm going to put those questions to the test!
No, this is not a perfect test. Yes, I could have done things a little different.

Great video with great explanations! I like to say 'click' when I use my non-clicker torque wrench, or just tightening bolts. Makes it feel more professional.

Good video man! I think where people get confused on torque is because they use extensions on impacts and there it is less torque since the extensions absorb the hammering action. I worked on a tractor one time where I had to use a crows foot to torque a nut and they gave an equation to figure out what to set ur torque wrench too. Seems like it only changed it about 4ft lbs

Good to know, I was always told not to use a long extension on a torque wrench, thanks for sharing!

I was always taught you lost torque with an extension but the proof is in the puddin...thanks for the video 👍

no good way to really figure if you loose some but we have done a lot of engines for tractor pulling where exact TQ is needed and we usually found most wrenches to be off a few % so we played with extensions too and figured 2-4 inches you lost a Lb or 2 plus you should try it in Inch Lbs to see what kind of spread you get. And in a lot of cases we even use Torque Multipliers which are like 2-1 or 4-1 where you put in a half inch drive but it turns a 3/4 output. All in all as a rule we just try to add 5% over suggested when doing ay kind of specs

I had to use a crows foot a few years back to torque some switch gear bus bars. I found online some formulas to adjust for using crows feet with a torque wrench. Unrelated I worked a few Nuke plant shut down and if your work order required a torque wrench, it had to be calibrated before each use.

I think it's the Merican version of AVE ! I always thought you lost some torque with an extension but that's close! Thanks

I have this old beat up 1939 john deere model h sitting in the weeds beside my 84 chevy. It was on my great grandpas farm in missouri. When my great grandpa past on my grandpa got it. I started showing interest in so it was given to me. Its froze up from sitting without a exhaust system. Im gonna try to rip it apart this year and try to get it running. Its got the tiniest little engine for tractors lol

Been wanting to see this test for a long time

The torque at each fixed position has to be equal. The only way that wouldnt be true is if you had something in the middle absorbing that force. The crows foot i figured would be more torque due to leverage.

I had a idea. I want to take a 24 valve cummins and put a p7100 pump on it and stick it in my frankentruck. I also want a nv5600. Ill have to upgrade the rear end to handle the power lol

The only time I gave a thought about using a extension was on a impact breaking loose nuts or bolts because, the lose of impact.
I liked the study you just did good information.

I found a 1978 chevy c30 crew cab for sale. No engine or trans, no title. Its a project. They want 500$ for it. I need 500 bucks now lol. If its gone by the time I get the money I know where I can find another

I'm on the search for a 2nd gen dodge 3500 with the cummins 24 valve. With a shot body. Still no luck. I'm also on the search for a crew cab so I can make it a 4 door short bed. Maybe I might be able to go to a junk yard and pick up both of those.

I found a video of a 2001 dodge ram 1500 with a 4045t JD engine in it. It was converted by a bunch of high school kids during shop class. I think I found out what I want to do with my uncles 1999 dodge ram 1500 lol
