Catfishing below Chickamauga Dam.

Join the old bobcat as he and his buddy Russ go poking around the boils below Lake Chickamauga dam in search of Catfish.
A slow day; but nonetheless some nice cats were brought over the rails.

I love the video. I moved to Chattanooga a few years ago and have yet to be out on the river (hoping to change that).

I used to work at Siskin hospital (next to Erlanger hospital). On my breaks, if I wanted to smoke a cigarette, I was required to leave the hospital-property. The smokers had set up a little camp-site to smoke at right between the hospital grounds and Amnicola highway (hwy 58). There were some giant, beautiful oak trees and a limestone-boulder lined ravine between the hospital and highway. The first few weeks, I loved walking out there, even if I wasn't smoking. I couldn't figure out what it was, but something about that patch of land sung to my soul.

A few weeks in, it finally dawned on me. There was something special about that patch of land. I had to do a little research and investigation to confirm it. Those trees and those limestone boulders weren't there by chance. They were evidence of history.

I've since confirmed it: our little "smoking-spot" - crammed in between the hospital, a water-treatment plant, an electrical substation, and highway 58 - is actually all that remains of something far more majestic. 100 years ago (before the Chickamauga dam was built), that limestone and tree lined ravine - was the Eastern bank of the Tennessee river.
