Since they don't provide power, those are cold shoes. Thanks for the video. I looked at the Telesin when I was shopping around and selected the Smallrig because the battery/micro sd door was still accessible.

Yes on the Telesin you cannot plug in the microphone directly because the purpose of the cage is to put your microphone on the cold shoe, that's why I've ordered the Telesin

Smallrig design fail: don’t use a screw mount. Either of them will screw straight into the body of the camera.

No "hotshoe" connection on either. Cold shoe on both.

That’s a speaker on top not a microphone. The two microphones are on the front under the lens.
