Psalm 2 is one of the Messianic Psalms, which prophesy the coming and reign of the Messiah.

Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?

The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers take counsel together

against the Lord and against his Anointed One, saying,

"Let us break their chains and cast off their chains!"

The Lord laughs from his throne in heaven;

the Lord mocks them.

He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,

"I have installed my king on Zion, on my holy hill."

I will proclaim the decree of the Lord:
He said to me, "You are my Son; today I have begotten you.
Ask of me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance,
and the ends of the earth as your possession.
You will break them with a rod of iron;
you will dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel."
Therefore, be wise, O kings;
take warning, you rulers of the earth.
Worship the Lord with fear;
rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry,
and you be destroyed suddenly,
for his wrath is kindled in an instant.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him!
This psalm highlights the sovereignty of God and the promise of Christ's reign over all nations. It is a call for the leaders and peoples of the earth to recognize the authority of God and his Anointed One, and to seek refuge in Him.
