Показать описание
Unconditional Positive Regard is a core aspect of Person-Centered Therapy, which was developed by the psychologist Carl Rogers. In this video we learn what unconditional positive regard is, how to maintain it even when it's most difficult to maintain, and how it can promote growth and transformation in the person receiving it. We focus on a shining example of unconditional positive regard in action.

This IS the way. The truth and the light. Unconditional positive regard opens the door for redemption, and I too believe that redemption is available FOR EVERYONE. May I lead with this into my practice in the future. It’s the reason I want to be a therapist. I want to see all people healed. Many therapist don’t operate in this manner. They have their biases and often label people. Thank God for her belief in what Carl Roger’s calls self agency. ❤ this will carry me over in the week

We learn, heal and grow in meaningful connection/relationship with others - so many societal issues stem from disrupted patterns of relationships with others and ourselves from childhood. Where is the morality in abandoning and punishing people for experiencing distress and the crippling effects of trauma and isolation? Approaching everyone with unconditional positive regard as a primary means of interacting with one another, especially in regards to having caused some sort of harm will make obvious that people just need support in realizing their own basic human goodness. As I commented in another of your videos, the most unconscious and traumatized among us are too often the ones seeking positions of power over others and contributing the lion's share of the perpetuation of the myriad manifestations of intergenerational trauma. The state has assumed the role of the abuser in many of our lives because silence and gaslighting cover up the society-wide trauma we're all dealing with...or avoiding in many cases.

The concepts/theories of unconditional positive regard (for yourself) seem like they would be good tools to battle emotional masochism, improve self-esteem and allow yourself to be happy with who you are (unconditionally)... something you were discussing in a previous video.
