Debunking the BBC's Horrible Black History

The BBC produced a song for the Horrible Histories children's program called 'Been Here From the Start' which makes several spurious, misleading and outright false claims about black people living in ancient Britain. From Cheddar man to Septimius Severus and the Moors, I debunk the lies contained in the BBC video and present the truth.

Clips of the BBC video are included under UK fair dealing law which allows such use for criticism of the copyrighted material.

Excellent video, what's happening is, the middle classes in Britain are feeling guilty about the Empire and the slave trade they played no part in, so allow the vocal minority to dictate and change history. We Europeans need to stand up for our history

I am of North African (Algerian) descent. I am sick and tired of my ancestors’ (Berbers) history being erased by the BBC and others. Stolen in fact! Most North Africans today are Mediterranean looking, and there is a great diversity in phenotypes. I only have to look at my own family. Here in the UK most people think I am white French, until I tell them my ethnic origins. I think I would have blended in nicely in Roman Africa, which by the way was a relatively small territory compared to the continent it covers today. For example Egypt wasn’t in Africa, Egypt was just Egypt.
