6 String Banjo or Banjitar Introduction - This is a really cool instrument I picked up a while back to add to my family of instruments and it has provided endless hours of entertainment both in a social and professional settings. It is called a 6 string Banjo That actually tunes and plays like a guitar but sounds like a Banjo!! Very unique and fun instrument to add to any setting. Check the above link to Mandolin Wind and see and hear how she sounds, you won't be disappointed. Please have a look at this tune and enjoy. I bought a nice Dean banjitar at the pawn shop about a month ago. I'm glad that it's so similar to playing guitar. I've been telling my non-musician friends that it's totally different and much harder to play than a guitar so that I could impress them by "learning it so fast". The technique is the hardest part

Just bought a Danville 6-string banjo today and look forward to it arriving. I'm a guitar player and have been chomping at the bit to get a banjitar for a while. After watching your video and others, I'm excited.

This helped decide to go ahead and get the 5 string and just learn the banjo. Something about the guitar voicings just doesn't sound right.

That thing is just too cool! A friend showed up at a jam session tonight and it blew me away - it was a 6-string Dean he said. I've been playing a guitar for a LONG time and never noticed one of there banjitars. It weghed a good bit more than my D-45 Martin. I reckon I'llbe getting one soon. I don't even know it our local music store sells them.

Great video with clear tutorial & I've only just heard of the Banjitar literally 10 mins ago!
I really needed to know if you played the same chords as the guitar, Cheers from The North West of England ✌️

What about tuning it like a 5 string banjo, keeping the high 5th drone string,  and just have the extra bass string. Will that give me more of a lower range?

Just picked one of these up at guitar center used for $150. Can't wait to play it.

I just picked up one of these today at my local Long & McQuade store here in Calgary. Went looking for a Dobro they had but I liked the sound of this better.

I love mine - but find it tough to hold up when I play. Should I get a strap peg installed at the top of the neck?

Banjos, 6, 5 or 4 string.. are meant to be picked. Strumming a banjo makes the sound very muddy.

I was given one of these as my first instrument how should I start learning?

Have you ever done Nashville tuning with the banjitar? I’m curious if it would have a more natural banjo sound.

Thanks a bunch for the video Marty. I've actually been wanting a banjitar for a few years, but I'm left handed and I need a question answered...Is it possible to reverse the strings on a banjitar to play it lefty, and if so, how difficult would that be? Thanks if you can help me out with some advice.

I once had a Fender resonator that sounded like a cross between the banjo and guitar.
It was cool to play!!!☺
