I used the forward assist when I was deployed in a sand riddled country going on 2 weeks in country, and failed to clean my weapon. I had been awake going on 22 hours, and I needed some sleep. Well, the next day on my post watch, a fire fight broke out. I fired if I recall correctly 2 or 3 rounds, and you guessed right....JAM!!!! I inserted a fresh mag and used the forward assist to make sure the round sat properly in the chamber. So, the forward assist is helpful to get you out of jam.

A screwdriver does nothing until you need it.

It rams the round into the barrel double time to make sure you aren't jammed. Effective when used correctly.

It boggles my mind how no one understand what its there for.
You use it to crack pecans in the receiver. Take that, AK guys.

When you do soft silent reload you tap it with the palm to make sure that round is seated in that chamber... Thus no misfire.

Yeah so the forward assist is def gonna do nothing if there’s no rounds in the gun

Fun fact: Eugene stoner said himself that visible valley where the ejection port is was made so you could seat the bolt with your thumb. If it required more than the pressure of your thumb you had a more serious issue.

The only time I have ever seen it used on this other YouTube. He basically pulls the slide about a 1/4 a way back to check If there is a round in the chamber, and then used the forward assist to move the slide back into place.

I use it for hunting, allows you to chamber a round quietly without putting a ding on a primer. I’m not a safety Sally, but I’m NOT gonna pull a rifle up into to a blind on a string with a round chambered. Using the forward assist to chamber of the round allows you to have a clink instead of a CLANK.

Hey, coast guard special ops infantry man here: that button, commonly called “forward assist” actually turns this into a semi fully binary burstomatic assault rifle 47. It also extends the high capacity clips to even higher capacity clipazines. These are extremely high powered and dangerous shotguns and we can’t let civilians own them

This is like hitting the bolt release while the bolt is already forward and saying the bolt release does nothing

When my rifle was brand new, I was able to ease the bolt forward and not quite lock it; a push with the FA pushed it on home. After shooting, the bolt locks right up, no matter how gently I close it.

Counter Strike taught me that you're supposed to pull it during a reload.
