I'm sure once it is primed you can lower the pump lower than the reservoir being pumped, pinch the intake hose and remove it from the pump and let gravity syphon the rest out.

you dont need to hold it higher just make sure the pipe is in

It says 1/2" hose. Is that I.D. or O.D. ?

Those things suck, I have two of them 2 diff brands and the hoses are cheap.get the 2AA battery gas jug pump.saves time and headaches
