When dry conditions in Ireland revealed markings of ancient henge monuments in crops of the Boyne Valley, there was an explosion of excitement, especially surrounding a particularly large and detailed site that came to be known as Dronehenge (also known as the Geometric Henge) on the banks of the River Boyne just below the imposing and famous passage tomb of Newgrange (Síd in Broga). This video details original analysis/research by the Archaeoastronomy Database investigating Dronehenge and some of its nearest neighbors on the banks of the Boyne. It is an analysis of axis orientation and lines from site to site in regard to possible astronomical alignments. The results of this investigation could have major implications for our further understanding of cultural astronomy in this period and location. Please help support the ongoing research and dissemination of information!
