HMS Defender returns to Portsmouth after after 222 days away

Welcome home HMS Defender

She left Portsmouth on 12 August 2019 to protect our Nations’s interests in the Gulf but today returns to a very different country.

Her ship’s company of of 270 and embarked Wildcat helicopter accompanied 38 British-flagged tankers and cargo ships through the Gulf and made two significant drug seizure.

I find it very sad that we have a small sized Navy in comparison to decades ago, but we now have large aircraft carriers that the navy did not have years ago. We need these ships more than ever in this ever unstable world, thanks to the crew of Defender for keeping the seas safe, and are interests around the world, and all Royal Navy crews that spend months at sea.
