But you also wrote a piece a couple of months ago I think even before maybe this reform started and I and I wonder about your perspective on this now. That the liberal left within Israel which has been at least in terms of like the Jewish liberal left in Israel has been increasingly becoming a minority is in fact a majority if they take a more expansive view as to what the fight is within that country. Can you talk about that idea and expand on it particularly in light of this now that they've been drawn in by this sort of almost non-racialized if you will sort of a front there on the rights within Israel. Yes, this is the notion that I still think very few Israeli Jews understand but I think they should understand. What I'm referring to is this right-wing government that has declared in its principles that only the Jewish people have a right to self-determination in the historic land of Earth Israel between the river and the sea. Between the Jordan River and the sea. So the right wing is viewing the whole of the Territory between the river and the Sea as one territory under Israeli Rule and with Jewish Supremacy all over the land. Now if you say okay, let's look at this land. In this land, there are 15 million people, half of them Palestinians. Almost even a little more than 50.4 or something like this 50.4 percent up Palestinian and a little less than 50 percent is Jews. So there is a Palestinian majority. And if you take the liberal Jews in Israel and add them to the Palestinians you have a clear majority between the river and the sea that oppose these right-wing racist policies. Now it's a mentality that most Israelis and Israeli Jews still don't see. but because they don't see themselves as related to Palestinians over the green line in the West Bank and Gaza and and and it's Jerusalem. But I think it's the right way to think about it. We have to think about it. And if we think in this way, I'm talking about the river left then we will understand that we are not a minority. We are the majority. and we can use this majority.

Economically, Israel used to be a more socialistic country decades ago with the Mapai party.

Protest all you want. Your politicians arent afraid of you hurting or arresting them. Until they fear those 2 things, the corruption will only get worse.

Bingo. And why do Israelies not consider all Israelies equal- enough to gain that ideological majority?

Excellent context -- gives hope to those who fear the spreading of authoritarianism around the world and, if the protesters prevail, will inspire similar massive protests of the majority against rule by the minority. The arc of the moral universe . . .

This is the conversation the left needs to be having

Like with America, and a lot of historical examples that did play out in this way, I do not think Israel could be internally reformed. The only thing left is overwhelming military defeat with all its consequences which, while they're still military perceived as an unstoppable invasion force, is possible just as it was in the past.

The center left parties are surging, but the two left parties are still middling in terms of recent polls. Doing better, but nowhere where near it should. Labor still is often polling below the threshold, and Meretz has a respectable but still small number of seats in recent polls. Hoping the left will rise too

We should start calling the settlers homesteaders instead to draw the direct line between what is happening now and what has happened in this country.

The only way this ends is when USA loses interest in the region. That will happen only when oil won't matter anymore.

This channel always covers any Israeli news in the context of the occupation/apartheid and while those are valid & important topics - you often miss the entire point or the bigger picture.
The protests have very little to do with civil rights of Jews or Palestinians, which is one of the reasons Arab citizens don't participate in the current ones.
It's all about the rule of law and whether Israel remains a democracy at all.
The current (extremist, theocratic, racist, corrupt and more...) right wing government is pushing for a judicial reform that will remove the only check on power there is in Israel (no president with veto powers, unitary legislature and no constitution), while the prime minister is under indictment...

The Phoenicians were there before anyone spoke Hebrew or Arabic.

The Lebanese descend from the Phoenicians.

Therefore Jerusalem is the rightful capital city of Lebanon.

I would really appreciate if you would begin your video presenting the guest and his relevance to the subject. It seems you do that often and it doesn't help. This is a complicated subject and a few explanations would be helpful. Thank you. I don't understand the different elements of the Israeli right. I guess the Israeli left or moderates would rather suffer a rightist rule rather than consider a broad coalition that includes Palestinians. I don't understand.

I have been saying forever the only solution is a one State solution. Let them fund then same schools and road with the same taxes. Make the state of Isreal and Palistine and have the good people pull together and fight the bad, if they struggle and bleed together against the worst people for the sake of a better future then in time both peoples will prosper and their descendants will be less bigoted than their parents.

This question attempt was so vague and was potentially the most non-question question that I couldn’t even continue with the video to listen to the answer.
