Beatles guitar lesson PLEASE: Read video description below BEFORE COMMENTING.

Solo: 0:48

This is a 1991 Gibson J-160E w/ Masterbuilt Phosphor Bronze .012 - .052 strings. The guitars is recorded with the Tascam DR01 hand-held digital recorder about 12 inches away from the neck and midway between the 12th fret and the sound hole. Effects are added during mixing. To get the 12 string sound I used a second copy of the track transposed up an octave and delayed slightly behind the normal track. My performance, with compression, is mixed with the backing tracks and the whole mix is limited. This is the way the Beatles recorded these early tunes. It is difficult to duplicate the sound with just the guitar and amp. No tabs.

My videos are really intended for accomplished guitarists who want to polish up their Beatles repertoire and can benefit from "seeing" how a song is played - I am not a guitar teacher and do not provide tabs. I welcome specific questions. If the various chords that I am playing are not familiar to you then I would suggest that you visit some of the many free guitar chord sites. I had to learn these songs by listening to vinyl records and watching live performances on tv.

You taught me to play guitar with these videos 6 years ago, great to see you're still making perfect renditions.

You nailed it. In the Hal Leonard’s Complete Beatles they say the third guitar is electric and they use a fourth gut guitar with gut strings. Some folks capo the second guitar at the second fret, but your demo is how they album recording was done.

Ah! Venturing up to later albums. Wonderful. We are enjoying your new and updated vids. Great camera angle and sound. Enlightening.
I bought myself a Tascam handheld due to your vids. Of course I realize you tweak the sounds post. I am still learning that end of it. Thanks again.

Great job! Thanks! Amazing how you could pick out the different parts just by listening to them. Maybe you're like Brian Wilson, they say he thinks in five-part harmony? 😀

I'm surprised none of the guitars are playing it at capo two with G shapes. McCartney always played it in G with Wings and does so to this day. Denny Laine played the solo all on the sixth string, just sliding up and down, though McCartney's current guitarist plays it across the bottom three strings like a real bluegrass player.

How come you don’t play the hammer on the 2nd fret F# on the 12 string in the verses like the recording?
