One of my favorite country songs of all time. My son got married this summer in Montana on Flathead Lake to a truly wonderful Montana country girl. Neither of them knew how much I loved this song, but sure enough, they played it during their wedding reception dance. Neither of them understood why I was crying. As a German I lost my AOL-Fell-in-Love 35 Years ago. But she had showed me her Country, Glacier- and Yellowstone National Park and many more unbelivable nice places in MT.
I will never forget what I've learned there about the 'Last Best Place'.
Today when I see what's happening here in Germany I wished to be there.

Oh wow I remember when this came out in ‘85 I just turned 36 years and every time this song would come on my girlfriend/later to be my wife she would squeeze my hand as I was driving to the park….I waited one day for this doing to come on and in 1985 when a song was a hit they played the heck out of it…when it came on I got down on one knee and proposed to her…27 years and we’ve never looked back including our 5 beautiful girls and thank God they look like their mother…😉 life couldn’t have gotten better…I love her just as much today as I did in 1985……👍🏼❤️

I never get tired of this song. It sounds even more beautiful each time I listen to it. When you love someone, it's not the looks, riches or fame that you are after. If you love someone, then you love someone. That's it. Period. I wish this song had more verses to tell more about the love between the two. Hey Dan! You could really sing. Hats off to you. I think it's been some 20 years and more that I have been listening to this song and will do it until the day I die.

I was actually born and raised in Missoula Montana and that's where I still reside to this day. This is truly one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard because I can relate to the gorgeous state of Montana in so many ways just by listening to the lyrics of this profoundly well written song. I especially love the lyric "I want to see the mountains in your eyes." There's nothing more beautiful than that as far as I'm concerned!
