Ok guys, but with all due respect. How are you not prepared for mine at this point. It’s a little ridiculous to not have a well thought out plan when entering a tournament.

Gors did more than just change attack order. It was one of the first massively played cards that effectively says "My board may be empty but that doesnt mean you're safe." I.e the advent of handtraps.

I remember skull invention being used to counter grass. All you had to do was cycle though at least 7 cards in your deck. Chain this to grass opponent would mill 27 cards and be burned for 8100 damage.

If you've experienced Gorz, the trauma doesn't go away. A Gorz can steal a game from you. I make it my personal mission to make sure this trauma persists at my locals. I play 3 Gorz in my deck and so far, every young duelist has had to learn the hard way why you attack with your weakest monster first.

Quick note about Gorz, it actually came out November 21st, 2008. 2011 was a reprint. We had to deal with this through the Synchro era, not just Xyz and on. And the Releaser of Rituals came out November 17th, 2009. Was used in the OG Herald decks.

the Chaos Monsters and/or DAD should be on the list cause they were some of the first examples of cards that gave value to the GY as a resource.

Why not heavy storm? Before it was released there was no reason to not just set all your spell/traps The second you had them. Then heavy came along and you ether needed to solemn judgment for it to had to way your options on maybe playing into it or holding some traps for later

I feel like Malevolent Catastrophe also deserves mention, for being one, if not the first card that made us Set cards in Main Phase 2

I feel lightning storm deserves a mention because of how everyone turn one set their monsters in defense so they don’t get affected by it’s destroy monsters effect. I do this in both the Tcg and master duel

Tragoedia is also in the same vein as Gorz. Trag also had a level modulation effect that did come up more often than not thanks to Synchros.

You should've also added another honorable mention of Number 101: Silent Honor Ark. DuelLogs mentioned it before.

It once changed the summoning position of YuGiOh by summoning monsters in defence.

To this day, I still attack with my weakest monster. Gorz definitely scarred me when I was younger.

The hands, specifically ice hand, it normalized setting your backrow in the M2 because it both protected it from ice hand and closed the hand loop, this had lasting repercussions up until evenly matched. Until duel links pavlovian trained some players into setting everything in M1

Little surprised that Dark Armed Dragon isn't here. Changed deckbuilding forever.

Attacking with wrakest is always best. If they have any battle interruption they usually wait until the biggest beaters attack

I am a bit surprised that Chaos Emperor Dragon wasn't on this list. That was the first major spike in power the game ever had. Not only that but it was the reason cards were outright BANNED completely. Can't say things changed more than the creation of the Forbidden List.

Thanks for the mystic mine explanation. I'm one of those 3 people that didn't know what mystic mine did

Gorz was really big in the OCG back in the day, everyone played it, it was everywhere for the YGO online games.

The fact that now that Mine is banned and Metaverse immediately came back to three tells you how much of an annoyance Mine was. Without Mine, Metaverse is honestly not very good since, yes you can either add a field spell from your deck to your hand or activate said field spell directly from your deck, you can only do it during your opponent's turn omitting certain circumstances such as the massively nerfed Makyura the Destructor or the minus 2 card advantage Boogie Trap, and most field spells that are played want to be used on your turn to search combo pieces, such as Magical Meltdown searching Alister the Invoker.

Don't you love it when you go to set up your board and your opponent not only Imperms you, but they also choose to smack you over the head with that big ol' rock?
