The 3.8 in the 991.1 is truly a work of art. The last of the NAs. Feels just that but more special than the 991.2. And the gas pedal is just so instant. Love it.

Very good comparison and I am now the proud owner of that 991.1 😁

Currently on a 991.1 C4S and keep considering the GTS. Gen 1 for me, every time.

I'm 50/50 between the 3.8 naturally aspirated and the 3.0 turbo. I was very excited to see that this review would offer a conclusion at the end but the conclusion got me back to square one 😂

If I could get the look of a 991.2 with that 991.1 3.8 motor

991.1 GTS over 991.2 GTS!
The NA sound with the snap, crackle, pop is the greatest in the automotive world!
The reliability of 991.1 GTS engine over the 991.1 GT3 engine is the deal maker for me. A future classic last of its kind 911 before electrics come.

Thanks for the comparison. It is clear that the 991.1 is definitely the better option of the two.

You forgot to mention the option of having rear axel steering on the 991.2 cars. That does make a difference.

Possibly my favorite porsche or car comparison video on youtube. Thank you so much for this gem of a comparison. Really helped me think better about both

I am a big fan of low end torque which is something you notice every time you take off and this is extremely gratifying; who likes to wait for power to kick in? I also like the fact that the 991.2 is easily modifiable to insane horsepowers. I am the proud owner of the 991.2.

I had the 991 and now driving the 991.2 Such a huge difference. With a stage 1 tune it is even better then the 992 and far better then the 991. And it still sounds great when in sports mode!

Thank you so much for this video, as these are the two specific cars I am looking at/deciding on presently. Think I’m going with a 2018 in Lava Orange, but love the naturally aspirated previous model so a tough choice. Good news is, no matter what I decide, I’ll still be smiling! 😃🤘🏻

Kinda wish I got a 991.1 GTS instead of the S but I do love my car. I definitely have no regrets going NA but I drove my boss's 991.2 and there's just so much torque across the entire powerband. Totally different feel between the two engines.

Sure the 991.1 revs higher and is more of an enthusiast version as one has to use the engine revs to fully engage the vehicle, that connection is better and once learned could be more fun. However, from a perspective of a less engaged driver, the mid-range torque of the turbo is more forgiving. I have driven BMW turbo engines and enjoy the midrange grunt. I am still trying to decide which version of this 991 S version I should buy.

Great video, slight correction: redline on the 991.2 carrera gts or any variant(base, S) is 7500, not 7k. Still short of the 7.8k in the Gen 1 991
