AAPC local chapters are the backbone of our professional community. As an AAPC member, you are automatically assigned a local chapter based on your zip code, providing a supportive environment for personal improvement and networking. I explain the structure and responsibilities of local chapter officers, the financial and administrative aspects, and the importance of maintaining transparency and member involvement. Additionally, I discuss the benefits of participating in local chapters, such as free or affordable CEUs, and the importance of evolving and bringing fresh ideas to the table. Whether you're new to AAPC or a seasoned member, getting involved with your local chapter can significantly enhance your career, provide new learning opportunities, and expand your professional network. Don't miss out on the chance to be part of this vibrant and essential community!

As a true introvert, thinking of going to a local chapter meeting makes me want to cry a little. I’m still taking the course and not certified yet, so I haven’t really had time to look into it much, but I’m sure at some point I will do it out of necessity. Just because of my fear of new people, social anxiety and social awkwardness, I really don’t want to though. 🥴😬

The closest local chapter to me always, ALWAYS has their virtual meeting on a Tuesday. At NOON.
I'm busy with my not-a-healthcare-but-pays-the-bills-sorta, full-time job at that time! So I have yet to attend a single session even though I want to look into job opportunities available at those sessions.

The next nearest ones to me are too far to drive, but are hybrid. They should be more doable, but somehow I've missed every single one since I got my cert. The emails show up late, or I forget they are holding a session because it's not in my calendar (and that's another pet peeve: not including calendar links so we can set alarms for the day of!)

It's been a month since I was certified, and I'm struggling to get anything remotely related to medical coding. Out of the list of jobs I've applied for, only 3 have responded with a canned rejection email. The rest are radio silence!

Any ideas on getting past the rejections-only stage of job hunting as a CPC-A with no healthcare experience outside of sterile processing?

Hello. Thank you for all your videos. I really enjoy watching them. So I am actually a medical coder at an OBGYN's office. Everything I've had to learn by myself and going through the books. I know there's still a lot of stuff I need to learn. But I don't feel like I should have to take a whole course because I really already know quite a bit. Can you guide me in the right direction to where I need to go to get that? Thank you so much

Do you have like a pre-recorded chapter meeting subject we can buy or use for our last meeting for this year? Or any ideas? Thank you! We are in Farmington NM
