FIFA president Gianni Infantino has called for an end for the war in Ukraine and called for Vladimir Putin to engage in peace talks. He also stated that he will stand for re-election as FIFA president at Congress next year.

Meanwhile, Russian FIFA Council member Alexey Sorokin admits they are frustrated to have been thrown out of World Cup qualifying.

Infantino: Why don't you go visit Putin and talk directly with him? You obviously have a long history of friendship. A friendship strong enough to turn a blind eye to Russia's war of aggression i Ukraine that started way back in 2014. Also, maybe Putin will award you with another medal.
