1756-L81E/B T01:C61 Error Code

I have purchased 2 of these 1756-L81E/B processors in the last few months. They were purchased about 3 weeks apart.
1 from the east coast of the USA and 1 from GB. Both when powered up gave the same display.
Major Fault T01:C61 Non-Recoverable - Backup Energy HW Failure.
From an online discussion forum this fault is:
Major Fault T01:C61 - Power-up Fault: Non-recoverable Fault with saved Diagnostic Information.

If this was on 1 processor and not on the other I would just write it off as a one off failure. But - 1 from the US and 1 from GB both with the same failure?? Now I am wondering if there is a manufacturing problem that Rockwell is not telling us about.
From GB - Date code - 2021/08/04 - ASA 012268AF - S/N 89224560
From USA -Date code - - ASA 01008A1C - S/N 68949280
Let us know in the comments below if you have this happening to your processor.
If possible please share at least your date code and if you can your module S/N.

I had the same problem with my L71 CPU.
It was solved by repeatedly moving the key switch from RUN to PROG several times.

This is probably a power supply issue. I had the same problem with a PB75 + L81E. the same PLC worked well on another chassis so I figured out it was not the fault of the PLC. After replacing the bad PB75 with a different power supply unit, everything worked well.

I have had this on 3 processors. Terrible situation, we brought Rockwell for their reliability and responsibility. Both are badly lacking. I am now moving to use Japanese and Chinese plc products and so far reliability has been perfect.

We had a L82ES do the same thing we have changed CPU's powersupply's and chasing, but no resolve. Rockwell has yet to come back with a good answer.

Had this happen to an L83E today on a running operation. Heard this was occurring with version 32.011 and have seen some issues elsewhere with that specific firmware revision but have since over a month ago transitioned to 32.014 as this was rockwells recommendation. This processor has been operating as long as I have been at the facility, I assume manufacturing date before 2018-2019. Only resolution was to attempt a flash of same firmware to revision to get controller into program mode to clear fault, had to redownload project since it was wiped out of processor, working fine as of now but huge future risk until resolution.

I had the same issue with L81E, A10/C chassis and PB75/B power supply. Replaced every part in the configuration and issue was not resolved. Finally changed power supply to a few years old PB72/C and the power up fault was resolved. I’m bit confused as the datasheet indicates PB75/B supports both type B and C chassis. Anyways hope this will help someone

I just installed an L83e today. Changed IP Address with BootDp using USB... Connected Etherent. Flashed firmware to 35.11 . Recycled power.... Boom T01:C61 error! Haven't even uploaded the first program yet or even finished scanning the modules yet. I'll update when I find a resolution.
