We were chased by like 6 of those scammers for 5 minutes because they would not accept a "no" as an answer.

Scammers are easy to spot, especially when they don't look like locals.

I got wasted in a Tokyo club in 2019. Felt sick and claustrophobic so I left early in the morning and waited at the train entrance for it to open. Fell asleep on those steps until a train attendant and a security guy woke me up once they were open. Felt like an idiot but I was unharmed and still had all my belongings.

I was targeted in Akihabara, by a cute Taiwanese hostess. She grabbed my arm and said, " I like you" as she led me to some underground bar. In the end, I escaped with my organs but it cost me about $150. (edit: Further details... It was my 50th birthday, 1st time in Tokyo last year, and I came alone. I'm sure I looked like the type of person they look for to make money on. They kept pouring sake/souchi into my beers and charged me at least 10, 000 yen per beer to get me drunk as fast as possible. They said they were from Taiwan (the girl who invited me and the other 'hostess' inside the bar. they were Very affectionate), but who knows. When I left the hostess pretended to get into a cab with me to hang out further (which was her claim in the beginning, also she didn't supposedly work for the bar, she was just dressed normal), then she slammed the door and took off lol. The whole scene was unnecessary because I wasn't the one pursuing her, but whatever.

The famous Nigerian and Chinese touts—this is nothing new. While it's baffling that people still fall for these scams, it's important to remember that when you're drunk, anyone's judgment can falter. There's also the belief that people in Japan are super friendly, which leads tourists to lower their guard—not just with these scams, but with all the scams that happen in Tokyo.

Remember, especially in Tokyo, while most people will be polite to you, this is not the same as being friendly. Don’t follow anyone blindly.

When you sign a receipt that someone is forcing you to sign put: "Under Duress" ... You should have no problem with a chargeback now.
