I 100% believed this was historically accurate 😅 #mormon #exmormon #bookofmormon

It's fucking hilarious that South Park didn't even have to make shit up, Smith did it for them 😂😂😂

South Park always provides useful information if you want to know about cults. They certainly have done a good job with both the Mormon church and with Scientology.

The brown people of middle east got on a boat, underwent Transmorgification on the boat, became white...got to america stayed white as reverted back to brown as the natives we now see. Makes perfect sense

According to the Book of Mormon, their skin only turned dark because they disobeyed god. Not that it's racist or anything. It didn't just show up once in the book, nor only twice, but 3 times. That makes it statistically significant. Basically, the entire book is about the pure, God faring people battling against the fallen dark skinned people. Not that it's racist or anything.

One thing that I always found hilarious is that the golden plates are always shown to be kept in a freaking three-ring binder like these native American Jews were walking around with their freaking trapper keepers😂

Hi archaeologist here, so this is coming from what is referred to as "the lost tribe of Israel" myth. This myth was perpetuated most famously by Thomas Jefferson, commonly referred to as the father of modern archaeology for his study of the Mound-Builder civilization in the eastern United States. The lost tribe myth is a product of racism, as Thomas Jefferson studied the momentous mound builders he came to the conclusion that the "tan and brown skinned" natives were not able to build something so impressive as they are "uneducated savages". So according to the Lost tribes of Israel myth, white ancient Israelis came to the America's and built such impressive societies (basically every Native civilization essentially across North, Central and South America), and the "savage" natives we see today must have come at a later point, slaughtered the white Israeli architects and took these civilizations to themselves. White colonizers simply couldn't comprehend that tan and brown people were capable of anything. If you want another interesting fact, the entire concept of "ancient aliens" is also rooted in this, people can't believe that the Maya, Aztec, Inca, Olmec, Egyptians, etc were capable of such feats so grand, yet they don't question the Roman Empires' impressive architecture for example. hmmmm

Not the "holy" D-Rings holding the tablets together in the movie.

Not only the "native americans" were white but also the people that came from Jerusalem too

a minor thing but it’s very funny to me that the golden plates are depicted as being in a 3 ring binder essentially

Girl!!!! I was raised in this church from birth, left when I was a teen because I just couldn’t buy into all of this craziness, came back as an adult because I dated a crazy hot guy that had to marry a Mormon girl, so I started going again just to see if I misunderstood how I originally felt. Nope. As I got older it got worse.

I needed to get out of the religion quickly because it was bringing on panic attacks. He was pressuring me because the only way he could get back in the good standing of the church was to marry a good Mormon girl (he wouldn’t tell me why) I was so divided, until….

The next day after proposing to me and me asking him to give me time to think this out (we had dated for 2 years), my doorbell rang. There she stood. A tall blonde woman with a one week old baby, that belonged to my “good Mormon man” that desperately needed to marry a good Mormon girl. If you do the math….yeah.

I’m pretty sure you can figure out the answer I gave him 2 minutes after she left my doorstep.

Now, I am a Christian because of some things that happened to me to bring me to Christianity, but I should have listened to my child self that knew better than to believe the craziness I was being taught.

Now I’m not a Christian that pushes people into my way of thinking, I honor everyone and their process to get to their belief systems, but I do work hard to help people see the things I saw when I was raised in and later re-entered the church.

And anyone that tries to baptize me as Mormon after I die will be haunted for eternity, me and God have that little arrangement lol

So nice of god to organize all those plates into a golden three ring binder 😂

Let me just do some Googling. "Where are the gold plates of Mormonism now?" Hmmm... I see. Well, isn't that just convenient.

I'm 1/4 Native American, so obviously I'm genetically Mormon.
Where's all my money and my wives?!

I would pay good money to see what you think of the character Joshua Graham from the video game Fallout: New Vegas. He is by far the most complicated depiction of a Mormon (or a religious person in general) that I’ve ever seen in fiction.

As someone who *actually* grew up on a rez and is an *actual* native. No. None of my native ancestors were white people.

None of our tales, history or stories involve anything written about in the book of mormon. And I cant speak for other peoples, but I doubt anyones stories and history describes anything the book of mormon does.

They were “cursed” with dark skin for “disobeying God.” What do you mean that it is racist? “Heavenly Father” changed his mind in 1978…

Has anyone calculated how HEAVY a book of gold that big would be?!
