Welcome to my channel! Today, we're diving into an issue many VanMoof bike owners face: the dreaded battery fuse blowing out. If you’ve got a VanMoof, i know how frustrating it is when your bike suddenly loses power, leaving you stranded
I make this video for other repair shops that fix these regularly so your customers will be happy and your repair will be successful…
The problem is a faulty diode setup in the battery system that causes the fuse to blow repeatedly. After countless hours of troubleshooting, I’ve cracked the problem and fixed this problem for good!

In this video, I’m sharing my repair journey to help fellow repair technicians and VanMoof enthusiasts tackle this issue. I’ll walk you through the exact problem and show you how to solve it by replacing the faulty diode with TVS type SMAJ40A diodes. These replacements are a game-changer, ensuring your battery stays reliable.

⚠️Even if you are replacing your battery with a new out of the box .. still need to replace those diodes as they are not the right type of diodes for this purpose ⚠️

Whether you're a pro technician or a DIYer, this fix is straightforward and will save you time and frustration 😊

Stick around as I guide you step-by-step through the repair process. Let’s keep those VanMoofs rolling!

If u need my assistance or you need to sort a large number of batteries you can find me on

Many thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences. 👍🏻
Could you please share some more details about the diode TVS SMAJ40A. There are several different types with additional numbers/letters.

Thanks for the great content—very helpful!
Would it be fair to say that if these TVS diodes are replaced, the suggestion to lower charger voltage can be dismissed?

Lowering voltage is actually harmful to battery health. After 10–15 charge cycles, the BMS begins adjusting its charging algorithm based on the lower input, interpreting it as a sign that the cells can't handle higher voltage. This misleads the BMS into thinking the battery is deteriorating, resulting in long-term capacity loss—often down to just 50–70%. We've seen many batteries drop to 55% health, and all of them had been charged using modified, lower-voltage chargers.

Thanks for sharing support videos, they are a great help.
I have Error 20, so OL checked the battery as follows:
My battery fuse is ok, but the TVS diodes are one OL on both sides and one is 1.08 ohm on one side and OL on the other side.
Do you think that replacing the TVS diodes with the ones you have suggested will solve the issue? Cheers
