The fact that you have started up your YT channel again tells us everything we need to know :)

Think traffic per article will definitely drop. But if you can 10x output and average traffic per article goes from, e.g., 300/mo -> 50/mo, that's still a net win. And there are always new trends, new topics, etc. Everything just evolves. It's a notable inflection point, but I'm still bullish on SEO and websites. I remember when ad blockers came out over a decade ago and that was supposedly the end of ad revenue... and yeah, that didn't happen and it only got significantly better.

As someone watching with no prior knowledge of SEO, or really the business of websites in general, this was incredibly fascinating. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

You're spot-on about diversifying. A lot of people are only focusing on SEO, but there are other great ways to get visitors and sales. I've invested a lot of time in building a big community and newsletter list. Very good video, btw!

Hey Jon! Thanks so much man, we emailed back and forth a couple times..which was highly appreciated! Would REALLY love to see an update to this video for the 2nd quarter of 2024..how does the landscape look now? Many folks are saying "don't go the route of organic Google traffic!!!" including you lol. I hear people saying to do a different online business all together like Amazon Influencer/FBA, and even newsletter marketing via paid ads etc.

I’m not even sure SGE is going to be a big winner for Google over time. I think consumers still value human content (including reviewed, edited AI content). At the most basic level, people don’t want direct machine outputs to their queries. It’s new and novel now, but I think it’s going to fade and the SGE footprint in the SERPS will recede over time, not grow. Google has more to lose by favoring a machine commodity over a human one. Very valuable insights, Jon! I agree, there are some types of content that won’t be easily produced by AI and I’m quadrupling down in that. So I have a hybrid sort of approach, too.

We actually have a huge opportunity right now, if people can think outside the box with how they use AI! But it’s going to destroy a tonne of sites.

Google needs content to serve users and has no interest in hurting themselves or those that provide that content creating a drop in ad revenue for either. Create quality content, over time across multiple platforms and you win. Real people will always be looking for real content from other real people.

Carefully crafted manually written content will eventually end up on top. AI needs sources and those are the sites it will prefer and the sites that will rank. A source that was generated by AI is useless, AI would be stuck in a loop.

It is all a matter of traffic sources.
I know many people who have made a lot of money using tiktok and instagram for traffic.

It's all relative. How much money do you need to make to be happy?
In 5 years time you'll be able to enter the top 20 urls of your competitors and ai will gernerate a 500 page website all done, layout, images, seo, everything.

They are not dead and will not be in the near future.

I feel like the reason you aren't doing it should be "AI content is shit", rather than anything else.

So basically your one site generates 90% of the revenue which looks like it is one wonder site success

Doesn’t look good. AI will only get smarter.
