Description and note from Tim Ferriss:

“I felt like I went through 15 years of psychological therapy in one night.”
- Actual patient featured in “Trip of Compassion.”

I found “Trip of Compassion” about six months ago, when I was sent a link to a screener. The film had been broadcast once on Israeli television, but it was unavailable online or anywhere else. This documentary had such a huge impact on me that I decided to fly to Tel Aviv, meet the filmmakers, and offer to help launch the film digitally worldwide for free. Everything I am doing for this film is 100% pro-bono, and all proceeds go to the filmmakers.

Why am I doing this, and why is this film so exciting?

Tens of millions of people worldwide suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Millions more have suffered from emotional and physical abuse but never get diagnosed.

“Trip of Compassion” documents one unusual approach to healing trauma that truly works — an innovative treatment utilizing the psychoactive drug MDMA (commonly known as “ecstasy”). The film is much broader than PTSD, however, and shows how *healing* and rebirth can happen.

If you’ve ever felt held back, defective in some way, or that you’re not living to your full potential, this film will give you hope.

This is also the first feature documentary to show actual therapy session footage (to our knowledge), to which the patients consented because of the incredible results they experienced.

Filmed over a period of several years at the Beer Yaakov Mental Health Center in Israel, “Trip of Compassion” provides a rare glimpse into a treatment and research process that can restore optimism and even the will to live.

Thank you for watching this film and, if you find it as powerful as I did, thank you for sharing it.

— Tim Ferriss

I never had PTSD, but MDMA has transformed me into a better and more aware person. It provided me with a crash course on negative behavioral and cognitive patterns I had been following my entire life without realizing, and allowed me to experience for the first time being fully present in the moment.

The song while the man is looking at himself in the mirror is Elohey Namesh by Alma. Amazing moment. (Not shown in this trailer but in case you were wondering like I was.)

Love you Tim. Doctor assisted MDMA therapy will be an easy sell to the public as long as there are people in media like you, spreading the good word.

Thanks for doing this, Tim. You are a wonderful human being. When you get old and look back, things like this will make you happy, not success or money.

The big elephant in the room here - as in mdma facilitated PTSD-therapy in which US-Veterans are involved - is the brutal context of their trauma, which in my opinion has to be the next-step-healing: from personal to transpersonal healing.
The young boys resisting being drafted into the Vietnam War, they actively questioned the war, and subsequently never had to experience PTSD.

How do I got into this spiral of violence?
Can I learn to love my enemy even if apparently all he/she wants/wanted is my destruction?
There are some powerful stories of transformation in the Rwanda genocide, a even more extreme and acute case of violence.
I hope this personal transformation shown here can be integrated in a larger picture, otherwise this still will continue and what could be more brutal and painful than after integrating your own trauma to experience a new one, so on and on ...

Does the proceeds from retning or buying it on vimeo go into the research or the team behind? I Hope it does. Renting tonight!

Genuine question, how can we talk about “compassion” when it’s this selective and disregards a whole population where this collective trauma is being perpetrated? This ethno-centered language of compassion is bogus!
