Tlaib... Here's a good idea... Why don't you just give your salary to the homeless in your district?

plain and simple, the founding fathers of this great nation are rolling in their graves.

Nurses with a bachelor degree start with that salary in Missouri. Are we going to pay people who never went to college and have jobs of low responsibilities the same? How fair is that?

Anyone elected to public office should have been both employee and employer. Know what its like to produce before bumping your gums.

How would her plan impact the economy? Well $20 minimum wage would lead to inflation and unemployment so overall not good

Whoever does not make enough needs to move on and go get a career that pays a living wage....doing so makes room for the next generation of newbies to the workforce, and so on...

What people against such measures are really saying is that there should be a segment of the population who don't make enough to live on. Look up what the CEO of Applebee's makes and tell me they can't afford to pay their people a little more.

How does that affect a 3rd year apprentice electrician that studied & worked his way up to a $20 wage?
Wages should be set in the individual marketplace, not the government.

Congresswoman Tlaib was elected for the experience she has, and she is a part of the conversation in Washington because of it. This channel takes the focus away from the needs of the people. It may be the case that people running businesses will cause a backlash, but that doesn't deny that there's a real problem here. There has got to be a way to raise the minimum wage across the country to $10, to $15, or to $20 whilst protecting the jobs of those workers. The sheer amount of profit that people are getting right now in this industry (just taking that profit from the workers on the ground), more than accounts for the cost, but how do you wrangle that money without causing a backlash?
It is so ignorant of these hosts (or their writers), to think that people aren't struggling. To think that there isn't a reason that these people aren't making a basic wage, or that there isn't a reason these people aren't able to move up into better jobs.
Democracy is about discussion. Congresswoman Tlaib is bringing up how the wages her constituents are making don't account for their cost of living. Her estimate is based on her constituency, and perhaps other calculations about the country as a whole.
For this man to insinuate that in order to represent her constituents, congresswoman Tlaib has to have had a minute subset of experiences denies that her constituents chose her for a reason.
It is from the shear fact that these people have down-regulated their empathy (by kissing up to large corporations like Fox News and lining their pockets) that they can't understand that we need policies that work for the people.
It is a beautiful thing that Congresswoman Tlaib is representing her constituents.

This is a two way street. Prices have risen on all consumer goods. Wages have stayed stagnant. If a business is making millions/billions in profit's maybe they should pass it down. SS gets a cost of living increase of pennies while congress gets a cost of living increase in the thousands. CEOs are taking millions home in bonuses while workers are struggling to make ends meet. Not everyone is going to go on and move up the ladder, not everyone is going to be able to go to college. The system is not fair that's for sure. Do I have the answers? No. It's above my pay grade.

Tlaib is thinking forward. When she gets kicked out of Congress she wants McDonalds to pay her $20 an hour.
