Theresa, currently Apple is still not able to build a macOS, which can use their own SoCs. It's a mess. 😭😭😭 ... most of the time I have 60% resources available, but dropped frames while live renderings.

- Now I listened a lot to you and talked a lot with the store where I can buy an apple computer by my new one-person company and so rent it per month for 36 months.
I been really unsure of going with a laptop to begin with…
But as I am in between studies in programming and beginning to find jobs I felt that maybe is a good idea to be portable for now…

So I had first booked a “future proofing” macbook 16 inch 4 tb, 32 gpu, 64 gb ram…
my idea was first to lease it and so have nothing left to pay after 36 months…
that would end up at 150 euros per month here in Sweden..

… but then the store sales person said I will have to wait 6-12 weeks or perhaps more for the Max chip with this configuration and in silver…

So he suggested me a space grey macbook 16 Pro with instead 1 tb, 16 gb gpu and 32 gb ram …
I plan on a private level to set up a music studio for singing and voice acting…
but for my studies and work learn and work with VM for ethical hacking, learn to design IOT devices (and hack them as well 🤣) and machine learning for such devices and also learn about the UX of how to create educational toys for kids and smart home projects to make life easier for people,

… and now the first year during my studies learn also normal programming languages such as C++, Python, Go, and also install Kali Linux, and use matplotlib and automate statisitic data bases into machine learning algorithms…

Do you think the configuration he suggest now will be good for studying /working with this and will it really be good for the coming 36 months I aim to rent this MacBook pro for.

He said that with the apple iCare insurance it will cost me 82 euro per month for 36 months and then I can change it into something new down the road in three years…

Otherwise I have to wait 6-12 weeks for a 16 inch, 64 gb ram with 4 tb that I can lease for 150 dollars per month for 36 months and then I will own that one forever if I so like as it would be leased instead of rented…

However, he also said that I can get the new Mac Studio Max with the same 64 gb ram and 4 tb storage for 90 dollars a month…

I feel really like in a scissor-lock in Brazilian jiu jitsu chess game now and I do not know which direction will lead me forward the best way?! 🫣🥵🤢🙄🙇🏼🤷🏼‍♂️🤣

This was a an amazing comparison. I’m in college and can only have my MBP (same specs) when doing 3D rendering of partials what I have noticed is, the software does not use apps silicon, more like the Intel emulater, so it’s running only COU and not gpu

I just downloaded your "candle" test. The idea is simply to loop it and hit play and see what FPS is reported, right? What is actually happening here to slow it down… I see effects on the clip but there's nothing on the clip in the effects tab? I'm so confused! LOL However this is super interesting as I've just compared with a single vs dual GPUs running on my Mac Pro, even though the second GPU (an older eGPU) is quite low powered, and with just the W5700X it's 11fps but with the old RX Vega 56 enabled too it jumps up to a full 24fps! Crazy. Oh and only 3fps on my M1 MacBook Air 8GB haha
