Troels Gravesen - Ekta 7741

A first day playing after the build. Break-in time :)

This speaker to my ears has a very lovely sweet mid and clarity is great in highs. Deep bass and I expect it to be tighter as time pass by as I experienced with it's little brother ekta mkII before :P

UPDATE: 11/Aug23, After few days of long playing, the speaker is now slowly opening up. I can say it has more details and space than its little brother ekta mkII. The 3 dimensionality is very apparent as well and I am having a goose bump. Great design from Troels :)

Hi,
now that you have had some more time to listen to both ekta's do you still think there is enough gap between mkii and 7741 to pay that extra cost? Especially if one has subwoofers to cover the low end. I'm trying to decide which to build and I could put the money saved to a better amp... My listening room is rather large, about 30m2, with high ceiling.

As you hold both Ekta MKII & 7741, could you please share your valuable inputs on which is best at what areas. what improvements we see as we move from Discovery tweeter to illuminator Tweeter series. also from 1 7" to dual 7" woofers. or MKII is better and preferred? thanks in advance.

Hi! I'm interested in doing this. Have you measured somehow the frequency range? . In my playlist there are some drum&bass tracks and some not necessarily audiophile music.
I'm wondering how low the bass goes, do you have any idea?

Teo: Another great speaker build. The 7741's sound great but it's hard to compare the sound on YouTube between the 7741 and the Etka mkii's (you've mic'd them differently). I'm sure the 7741's have improved bass but to my ear the Ekta mkii's sound more coherent more pure. Again that could be just how you've recorded them. But it could be more than that. A different cross over could yield a different directivity index (off axis sound). To your own ear, do the 7741's match the ekta's in the vocals?
