The majority of American produced lumber is pine, soft and very susceptible to mildew and rot. Should be treated at mill before using.

I remember when they pulled this lumber tariff thing last time, American home builders were upset because they said the quality of the lumber from Canada (due to the climactic conditions it grows in here) was *superior* for home building and that's what they preferred...
