PARTIAL AUTO-TRANSCRIPT
Today we're talking about carrying your handgun in Texas with an out-of-state license stick around to the end where we talk about the one place that out-of-state license makes you a law breaker and before we get started show your support for the Second Amendment by hitting that like button Texas recognizes a lot of license and permits issued across the united states we recognize everyone except Washington D.C., Maine, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Oregon, Rhode Island local permits (AG permits) are okay and Wisconsin permits issued to persons under the age of 21. it's also important to remember that Vermont, the state of Vermont does not issue licenses and permits so there's nothing for Texas to recognize but if your state wasn't listed in what we just went through right there Texas is going to give full faith and credit to your license or permit when you're here in the lone star state and we're essentially going to treat it just like a Texas LTC and this applies too not just if you're visiting from another state but let's say you're a Texas resident and you choose to carry with a Florida non-resident license with an Arizona non-resident license there are lots of states that will issue you a license even though you don't live in their state those are fully recognized in Texas you can carry with those licenses and you're considered a license holder not a constitutional carrier so if you have a recognized license look out for 30.06 or 30.07 signs all the things that you would normally have to do with a Texas license yeah Texas we got some kind of crazy laws on signs here uh the ones that you really need to be on the lookout for if you're carrying under the authority of a license are our 51% signs those are at our bars our 30.06 signs those are signs saying hey we don't want you to conceal carry in this area and thirty out seven signs those are our signs to say hey we don't want you open carrying here and you know we do have a list of prohibited places ... look at Texas penal code 46.03 there's your list exactly right and so while you're here your license is going to be treated just like a Texas license to carry a handgun and the question that we also get all the time is do i have to notify law enforcement that I'm caring and how would you explain that to folks yeah if you're carrying under a recognized license the answer is yes upon demand of the officer ... failure to disclose that you're carrying under the authority of a license there's no penalty associated ... first follow-up question is always okay where's the gun where's the handgun or the and so you know there's no benefit to not disclosing the location of a handgun we're always advising people you know be polite follow officer instructions um you can they can temporarily disarm you and and nine times out of ten they're gonna return your gun to it's not gonna be an issue you're not gonna be arrested uh depending on what's going on uh but you know police here are used to license holders ... law enforcement in Texas generally appreciates it so we kept saying you know you're out of state license you're Florida non-resident or you're just visiting from Wisconsin you've got your license um we keep saying oh there's treated just like a Texas license but that's actually not true in one very specific place and in fact you could face some pretty serious criminal consequences if you assume that you're like a Texas LTC here uh richard yeah that brings us to yeah our attorney pro tip of the day which is our one location that is treated differently and that's our gun free school zones here in Texas...

I don't hear you speak to the LEOSA HR 218 licence much. I'm new to your channel but find the few videos I've seen so far very informative.

I have discovered your channel and am catching up. Enjoying your concise to the point information.
After Gov Abbott signed SB11 into law. I contacted university police where my son was going to school in Longview. Private college elected to continue prohibition of ccw. Very nice reply said to be sure to leave firearm locked in trunk while I was on campus.
While eating at Outback saw a sign I probably will never see in California it said concealed firearms welcome with valid license ( I'm sure that was not the exact wording)

What is it about the word "infringed" that people don't get?
Every time a citizen participates in any "concealed handgun permit" process, they are placing another nail in the coffin of the Constitution.

What about driving on a road, that runs along school property? If you couldn't, I would have to drive like I'm in a maze, where I live.

And are those "gun free school zone" signs properly posted on all streets, a thousand feet from the school property? Out of towners have no idea if there's a school around the corner.

After what happened to Philando Castile, I'm not saying anything if it's in the car but not on me concealed. Saying you have a gun on you just makes cops nervous.

Officer: Where is your gun. Me: Which one?
Here in Indiana you can carry on school property but you cannot enter with it. So essentially pick up and drop off.

I always carry with confidence when I’m traveling through the great state of Texas. Texas’s reciprocity with NM has earned it a lot of my family’s travel $$$. Thanks for the tip about being in close proximity to a school…

As a native and resident of NH, I was quite surprised to see that our resident permit is NOT recognized by Texas. Although this presentation is two years old, is this still the case? NH was one of the states to send National Guard troops to serve with your troops in border control operations. Puzzled doesn’t even begin to describe my confusion about this matter.
