When I plug my hard drive in it just say external ready and then my xbox just doesn't work nothing loads or downloads it just randomly started happening but as soon as the hard drive unplugs everything works

My External hard drive has been working fine for the past two years but now suddenly it isn’t being detected on any Xbox (suggesting there’s a problem with the hard drive) and my Xbox one is not detecting any external hard drives, including other Xbox-formatted ones (suggesting there’s a problem with the Xbox itself). I find it hard to believe both broke in the span of an hour but honestly I’m at a loss - I’ve tried all the basic troubleshooting steps (different wire, different port, power button for 10 seconds, soft reset of the console) but I’ve had nothing that narrows the problem down apart from the fact that the wire I’m using works for other hard drives on other consoles.

guys if it still isnt working you can plug the usb into the top port not the bottom one. i just did it and it worked for me.
