there are many, but the one i heard is that its easier when racing to shift by just pushing down, and when coming up to a turn, when you sit up, you just bring your foot up with your body to downshift

@MrCamaroKiller the actual purpose of it is so that when you are on the track you can catch an upshift mid corner (you don't have the ground clearance to put your boot under the lever to shift at full lean). it's just a matter of preference for anyone using it on the street.

This feature soo cool, great improvement on acceleration due to quicker shifting and using this method theres less damage on the gear box sprockets .... but i always seem to forget that ive changed it soo wen im at the lights takes me 10 seconds before i realise

That would be perfect with a heel toe shifter. Toe up, heel down. Similar to how my antique Yamaha Omaha Trail bike shifts(one of these days I am going to get it running and restore it.) I don't know why bikes don't use Heel toe shifter anymore. I would think not having to switch your foot position around a lever would be better.
P.S. That is the only part about that transmission that makes sense though. to get to neutral you shift up from 3. it has three gears, and neutral is up from three for some reason. 1->2->3->N

first bike i owned damn near 10 years ago had gp gearing....i had no idea at the time it was gp gearing....so i learned on that and was fine...bought my second bike which had regular gearing....fucked me up lol

yes. all the gear linkage's work in the same way accross 99% of bikes so find that linkage and turn it upside down. one you get used to it it makes more sence to push down whith your foot to change up a gear :)

Yeah, it's since been explained to me that in mid-corner, GP shifting allows you to shift without sticking your foot underneath the shifter, which aids in clearance at lean...

My first bike in 1995 was a 91 GSXR-750 with the reverse set up. Got use to in a few shifts. much easier to me.

@mrmidnight32 I believe you need an aftermarket for that. Look up Sato Racing Rearsets, they have reverse shift pattern kits.

@Fantastic Pillows, it is tat easy dude..ive been riding wit gp shift on my bike for abt a few yrs nw..its exacly the same process as how the video showed..but i find bikes wit vertical shift linkages mite not be as simple e.g CBR600

LOL... Icon helmet, Suzuki sticker... Previous bike, which was a Suzuki can be seen in the background... That sticker was replaced with an Akrapovic one shortly after....Doesn't matter cause a few weeks later the helmet was totaled along with many other items 8)

I noticed you didn't put the bolt back into the shift arm. I have a 08 zx6r, and there is enough clearance to do what you did in this video but I don't have enough clearance to put the bolt back in. Did you have an issue on the 11 zx6r?
