And this is also coming from a guy who once had two ingrown toenails removed and a pinky toenail ripped off, and.... I still felt more pain having a splinter on my foot.

I was suffering from ingrown toenails over the course of a year. It got bad enough that I got told that if I had left them untreated for longer, I’d have risked losing the entire toe due to gangrene. Lovely stuff, right? So I booked an appointment with my doctor, initially to get a referral to a podiatrist, but my doctor said to me, “No, let’s get this over with now”. I agreed and went with him into another room. No matter how brave I was, the amount of anaesthetic that had to be injected into my toes was allegedly, and I quote: “enough to knock a horse out”. I had a total of _seventeen_ large syringefuls of local anaesthetic injected into my toes. To test if they had used enough, they tugged at one side of my toenail and asked me if I feel any pain there. I told them no. The initial injections were painful, but the more they used, the quicker the pain went away. It was an eventual case of “the pain left as soon as it came”. How quickly was that? Pinch your arm and let go as quickly as you can. Using what I call “surgical pliers”, they ripped off the entire toenail. There was a lot of blood, and I just watched it all play out. _Yes, I watched the doctor rip my nails clean off. It was… satisfying. I probably have issues, don’t I…?_ Surgery complete, bandages were wrapped, and I initially struggled with walking because the anaesthetic affected my balance.
