Bill Giant – “Tomorrow’s Clown” (MGM) 1962

Written by Marty Wilde

The US version of a song that was a #33 UK hit for its writer, Marty Wilde, in 1961

The flipside was Bill’s version of Kenny Lynch’s “Puff”. Bill wrote that one and released it as “Poof!!” but Kenny had the hit – at least in the UK where his version reached #33 in 1962.

Bill Giant, Bernie Baum and Florence Kaye were famed 60s’ songwriters. Their best known song was probably Elvis’ “Devil In Disguise” but that was one among many.

Great version. Written and originally recorded by Britains own Marty Wilde. The "b"side "poof" was recorded in the UK by Kenny Lynch - although it was titled "puff ( up in smoke )". Prudish BBC thought the title was a bit "suggestive" 😊
