I can remember when I was in Venice and out the window of our hotel was a narrow canal. At night the gondolas would weave through the waterway. There were lanterns on the front and rear of gondolas and the gondolieri would sing as they paddled. You could hear the water sloshing around. Very beautiful and atmospheric. This is one of the things that makes Venice such a remarkable place that must be preserved at all

So the Gondala's cost the same as a car and you definitely can't be drunk while controlling one. Can you imagine some of of these guys getting knocked over by a bridge. Don't drink while Gondala driving guys. =)
